This is more of a lazy question because I cannot be bothered to do any research at this time, nor do I have the time to do it in.

What are the latest rulings about smoking? I get mixed responses everytime I ask. So is it Halal or Haram?

Haram - it harms you?
Halal - it dosen't intoxicate you?

Salam.

I took it from your previous posts that your marj3 is Sayyid Fadth'Allah. Correct me if I'm wrong please. His rasala says it is haram for a person to start smoking.

*And smoking?

I was a smoker, but I quit this bad habit on the first of the month  of Moharam 45 years ago in Iraq. Yet. I do not have a reasonable analysis to the motives that drive one to smoke, and later  become an addict. It is just a habit and I forbid it, for not  only it  inflicts harm on the body but on the society as well.
