i guess i dont see why you couldny as long as both people are ok with it, and can come to some udnerstanding and make it work, i think if the differences are too huge and both sides are 'extreme' then it probably wont work unless theyre able to be open minded about the others beleifs and views...i've known some people whove had sunni/shia marriages, not eprsonally so i dont know how they coped with it.

brother shrapnel, why would you want to ask if it is permissable to have a "shia-sunni" marriage? Aren't they both muslims? the ingredients for all marriages are the same: there has to be understanding, dialogue, love, care, compromise, and faith etc.

Unfourtunately I think because of culture and political differences some families wouldn't liek thier children to marry sunnis or vice versa, that to me is silly and sad.

Dear brother, the only reason why i wanted to know if sha-sunni marriages are permitted, because i am a shia and the person i love is sunni, but for some reason my family doesnt accept it. Neither does her family, so i just thought that someone will be out here that could help me, well first of all i wanted to clear out my doubt about shia-sunni marriages. That weather i can marry sunni or not.
